Southeast Region Tournament Umpire Hub

Congratulations on your appointment to a 2023 Southeast Region Tournament! We know you will work hard from now and through the end of your tournament to ensure you are the best umpire for the Little Leaguers on the field and your fellow umpires at the tournament.

We have prepared this website to manage the information coming your way in advance of your tournament.

Message from Region UIC Rich Ealy

CONGRATULATIONS on your selection to one of our 2023 Region Tournaments. To be selected to umpire at any of these tournaments is truly an honor that I know you have worked hard to attain.

In the coming months you will be receiving a series of communications from our Southeast Region Volunteer Umpire Staff regarding various topics that will help you prepare for your tournament. While we cannot communicate everything that will transpire, we will try to offer as much information as possible on what to expect and how to prepare. Our goal is to make this the greatest experience possible.

Our staff is anxious to help ensure that your game is the best that it can be when tournament time rolls around. If you are properly prepared, I promise that your “Regional Experience” will be a very exciting and enjoyable time in your umpiring career. Tournament time is always a great opportunity to make a lot of new friends and enjoy the experience of a premier level tournament. During the interim if there are questions that we can answer, please let us know by sending an email to our staff seregumpires@aol.com or directly to your tournament’s Umpire-in-Chief.

Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Rich Ealy

Umpire Alumni Association

On behalf of the Southeast Region Umpire Alumni Association, I congratulate you on your appointment as a tournament umpire for one of the Southeast Region Baseball or Softball Tournaments!  You will have an amazing time and have the privilege of umpiring some well-played ball games.

The Southeast Region Umpire Alumni Association (SRUAA) is guided by a Steering Committee.  Currently the members of the Steering Committee are Pamela Brooks (Chairman), Bill Vikara (Vice Chairman), Gary Allmond (Webmaster), Lawrence McNeely, Louis Nickerson, Brian Wolfe, and Donnie Caudill.  Two members of the SER Umpire Staff also serve on the committee (Mike Galiano and Doug Durling).  Our e-mail addresses are Board@SRUAA.org and SRUAAboard@gmail.com.

The SRUAA runs a mentoring program for all umpires assigned to umpire at a Southeast Region Baseball or Softball Tournament.  We encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to be mentored by an umpire who has previously umpired a Southeast Region tournament.

Again, congratulations!

Sincerely,

Pamela Brooks, Chairman

About the Mentorship Program

SRUAA offers you the opportunity to be mentored by a Region Tournament Umpire who has already been through the process.  Your mentor may be in the same state or in another state in the Southeast Region. Your mentor can assist you and encourage you in your tournament preparations. Your mentor can answer questions about how things are done at your Region Tournament from a “boots on the ground” perspective. Mentors can assist in your training through discussions of rules and mechanics, and can offer evaluations to enhance your mechanics by occasionally watching you umpire in person or virtually, depending on proximity. How often you interact with your mentor will be up to you and your mentor.

The Mentorship Program is completely voluntary and you are under no obligation to take part. It is available to you as a resource to enhance your tournament experience. If you are interested in being mentored, please complete the application found via the below link.
