Central Region: Fall Umpire Clinic – Plate Mechanics & Wedge Theory

$20The Central Region Umpire Advisory Committee is excited to announce the topic for the 2018 Fall Clinic: Plate Mechanics and Wedge Positioning. The clinic is designed for umpires of all skill and experience levels, including beginners and veterans.
With up to 6 available indoor cages, all umpires will experience multiple opportunities for cage-work, including pre-pitch fundamentals, in-pitch mechanics, and movement from behind the plate. Each plate mechanics station will be video recorded and reviewed during the clinic.
Umpires will also use the 4500 square foot, indoor, turfed multipurpose area for plate mechanics and wedge positioning simulations. Each simulation will be recorded and reviewed during the clinic.
WHAT TO BRING?
- Plate Gear, specifically a hat and mask
- Indicator
- Baseball Glove for Simulations
- Dress casually in clothing that affords freedom of movement and participation in game-like simulations.

- 5:30-6:30 – Plate Mechanics Instruction
- 6:30-8:30 – Cage-Work, Round 1
Saturday, October 6:
- 9:00-10:00 – Drill Work & Instruction
- 10:00-11:30 – Cage-Work, Round 2
- 11:30 -12:00 – Drill Work
- 12:00-12:45 – Lunch
- 12:45 – 6:00 – Instruction and Simulations: Movement from behind Plate, Wedge Theory, Cage-Work, Round 3, and Video Review/Analysis
Sunday, October 7:
- 9:00 – 11:30am – Drill Work, Instruction, and Video Review / Analysis
